Maifest in Hermann: A Celebration of Spring & German Heritage

Maifest has a long history in Hermann. When German immigrants settled in Hermann in 1837, they continued this time-treasured event. After the World Wars, the celebration fell out of favor, and for decades, Maifest wasn’t celebrated in Hermann. In 1952, the Brush & Palette Club revitalized the celebration as a fundraiser to restore older buildings in town. It was such a success that it again became an annual tradition.

This year’s event has many of the hallmarks of Maifest as it is celebrated in Germany: German music, German dancing, a Volksplatz (German Market), and so much more for all to enjoy. For more information, visit maifesthermann.org.
