Outdoor Adventures
Hermann is a great place for outdoor adventures. Visitors can find activities ranging from a leisurely stroll around the historic district to an exhilarating ride through the forest on the Katy Trail. Several self-guided walking tours also give visitors a chance to learn about the community’s history.
Bikers can enjoy a family outing or challenge themselves with some of the 400 feet of vertical climb offered by Hermann’s famous hills. A protected eight-foot bike lane on the Missouri River Bridge provides safe access to the Katy Trail, the nation’s longest rails-to-trails project. The McKittrick trailhead is just a mile north of Hermann.
Nearby state parks and conservation areas offer hiking, hunting, and camping in Missouri’s forestlands. A nine-hole golf course and several Agritourism businesses, including our wineries, distilleries, and breweries, add to the selection of outdoor adventures in the Hermann area.
