
Everything You Need To Know For Hermann Wurstfest 2025
Every year, Hermann’s more than 180-year sausage-making history culminates with the Hermann Wurstfest, a celebration of all things sausage. From sausage sampling and competitions to kraut-making classes, German dancing, live music, and the highly-anticipated Wiener Dog Derby, dog costume contest, and talent show – there’s something for everyone in Hermann, March 21 – 23.

Braunschweiger Ball
Friday, March 21 | 5 pm – 9 pm | Tin Mill Brewery – 114 Gutenberg Street | RSVP |
Per tradition, the Braunschweiger Ball will kick off Wurstfest events. It will be hosted by Tin Mill Brewery, located in their lower level Bier Hall at 114 Gutenberg Street. Make your favorite braunschweiger recipe and enter the contest. Entries must be submitted by 6:30 pm. Judging will be based on taste, creativity, and presentation. German attire is encouraged. Attendance is FREE but RSVP’s are requested.
Gourmet Sausage Sampling & Sales

Tantalize your taste buds. Wurstfest draws professional meat processors from all over the state with a wide variety of products to sample and offered for sale. Visitors will sample gourmet sausages at two locations.
Tickets for tasting and sales at Stone Hill Winery and Hermannhof Festhalle are $15 per person each day at the door. Pre-sale tickets for a discounted $10 ticket price includes entry to both locations each day. Bundled ticket options include trolley passes or one or both days.

- The Wurstjaeger Dancers will perform on both Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm.

Sausage-Making Competition

The Professional & Amateur Sausage Competitions and Display will be held at the Hermannhof Festhalle on Saturday only, 9 am – 4 pm. Registration to enter the contest is from 7 am – 9 am. Pre-registration is recommended for all participants.
This year’s celebrity judges are Steve Harris from KMOV Channel 4 St. Louis & Josh Owens, from the hit show, Moonshiners.
Sauerkraut Making Class
Saturday, March 22 | 1 pm & 3 pm | Wagon Works – 314 Gutenberg Street | Get Tickets |

Participants will learn the basic history and benefits of sauerkraut fermentation, and then chop, salt, and mix their very own batches of kraut. $35 per person. Advanced registration is required.
All-You-Can-Eat Sausage Breakfast
Sunday, March 23 | 7 am – 12 pm | Hermann Fire Department – 214 East 2nd Street | Pay at Door |

The Hermann Fire Department will host its all-you-can-eat sausage breakfast to benefit the Fire Department Equipment Fund. Adults $12, Ages 5-12 $7, Ages 4 and younger eat free.
Wiener Dog Derby
Sunday, March 23 | Begins at 2 pm | Hermann City Park – 118 West 13th Street | Free for Spectators |

You can’t have a sausage festival without a Wiener Dog Derby! This much anticipated and fun event also features a costume contest and talent show for dogs of all breeds. Only dachshunds can participate in the derby. Please bring up-to-date vaccination records for all canine activities. Keslie Kobielusz Meteorologist with KOMU, will be the celebrity MC.
The derby is $20 for contestants and free for spectators. The talent and costume contests are $10 per dog (derby wieners can participate free).
Pre-register online. Day-of registration begins at noon.
