Fourth Weekend of March
(unless Easter Weekend)

“The Wurstfest in the Midwest – a Celebration of All Things Sausage!” Professional meat processors attend from all over Missouri, with samples and products for sale. Professional and amateur sausage-making competition, Kraut making class, German dancing and music. And the crowd-pleasing Weiner Dog Derby may well turn Hermann into the Weiner Dog Capital of the World!


Third weekend of May

Maifest is an old-fashioned celebration of spring and of Hermann’s German heritage, with German music, dancing, food, and parades. Add Maypole dancers, children’s games, heritage tours, beer gardens, and an outdoor market for shopping, and visitors can enjoy an amazing small-town celebration.


First full weekend of June

Town and country tours of private gardens filled with early summer flowers, herbs, and/or vegetables. A walking tour of public town gardens designed and supported by the Garden Club. Visitors can chat with many gardeners.


July 3rd and 4th

Hermann’s Freedomfest is an annual Fourth of July celebration that spills over to other July days. FreedomFest events include a parade, games, food booths, music at Riverfront Park, and a concert by Hermann’s Municipal Band at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre. The event includes a fantastic fireworks display over the Missouri River.


Postponed until 2022

Plans are under way for an exciting return of the Jazz Festival in 2022. Details will be posted here, on social media,  and on our events calendar as they become available.

Each October, amid a backdrop of brilliant Missouri fall colors, Hermann hosts Oktoberfest, a celebration of the town’s German heritage, the autumn season, good food, wine, beer, and music. One of the beauties of Hermann’s Oktoberfest is that events are spaced out all around our German town and countryside. There is plenty of room celebrate!

Visitors will be able to enjoy German food (schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerkraut or pretzels) and a glass of wine, beer or spirits. And the great outdoors will  be here with the usual fall colors and fantastic weather. Hiking, biking, and watching the Missouri River roll by are also amazing ways to celebrate October in Hermann!

The four weekends before Christmas

Christmastime is magical in our German village, where holiday traditions date back centuries. Beginning with a traditional Lantern Parade just after Thanksgiving and ending with the annual ringing of the bell in the Clock Tower to usher in the New Year, Hermann has much to offer visitors of all ages.
