On Saturday, October 19, the exhibit, What Wondrous Life: The World of George Husmann, will be available for viewing at Deutschheim State Historic Site between 2:00-4:00 in the Feldmann House, 109 West Second Street.
The exhibit previewed in Hermann in 2002, the 100 year anniversary of Husmann’s death. It traveled throughout Missouri before being featured at the Napa Valley Museum in California. In 2003 exhibit author Linda Walker Stevens, of Hermann, donated the exhibit to Deutschheim.
George Husmann immigrated from Germany with his family in 1836, at the age of nine.
They settled in Hermann, where George later began his illustrious career, becoming America’s premier expert on grapes and wine in the 19th Century.
Husmann scholar Linda Walker Stevens will host the free exhibit viewing at Deutschheim on October 19.
