The Union Pacific Big Boy is a colossal class of 4-8-8-4 articulated steam locomotives built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) between 1941 and 1944. Designed for the Union Pacific Railroad to pull heavy freight unassisted over the Wasatch Mountains in Utah, they are widely recognized as the heaviest and largest operating steam locomotives in the world.
The Big Boy will be visiting Hermann on Monday, July 20 from 2:15pm to 2:30pm.
