The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries; the United States, Canada, & Mexico.
Starting with this tournament, the FIFA World Cup is expanded to 48 teams, an increase of 16 from the previous 7 tournaments.The teams will be split into 12 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 of each group and the 8 best third-placed teams progressing to a new round of 32. A total of 104 games will be played during the tournament.
The United States is currently ranked #16 in the FIFA Men's World Cup Ranking. The best place for the United States in a World Cup was third place, in the very first World Cup in 1930. In 2002, the United States made the quarterfinals.
Germany is a team that Hermann loves to root for. Germany ranks #10 on the FIFA Men's World Cup Ranking. Germany's best finish in a World Cup Tournament was as champion of four different World Cups, in 1954, 1974, 1990, & 2014.
Upcoming Dates
Six tournament matches will be played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on the following dates, along with the opportunity for practices and scrimmages at satellite soccer facilities in the area during the tournament. Satellite locations have not been determined yet, but arenas such as the Kansas City Soccer Club Stadium & St. Louis Soccer Club Stadium are being considered.
