Black Shire Distillery & Tasting Room

Black Shire Distillery is set on a historic farm in Hermann, Missouri, where German immigrants settled and built their lives. In the 1840s, the Rasche family established their farm and small still site where Black Shire sits today. The Distillery carries on their tradition of crafting spirits from local ingredients, with a focus on locally-grown grain aged in Missouri-made white oak casks. The Distillery crafts a lineup of spirits, including Bourbon, Rye, Blended Whiskey, Gin, and Vodka, along with limited release and seasonal offerings.

111 Gutenberg Street (Tasting Room)
At Black Shire Distillery’s tasting room in downtown Hermann, guests can enjoy a tasting of handcrafted spirits or order a cocktail to sip in the rustic brick bar or out on the patio overlooking Frene Creek. The tasting room has a constant rotation of seasonal drinks on offer, with a couple of perennial favorites available as well. While visiting, guests can shop a selection of artisan bitters, branded merchandise, and cocktail accessories to deck out their bar at home.

This heritage bourbon distillery offers a premium bourbon blended and bottled in Hermann, as well as a wheated Missouri bourbon. In addition to tours & tastings on the scenic bluffs of a former mule farm, visitors can enjoy bourbon-related products (BBQ sauce, rub, bourbon balls, bourbon bacon, specialty drinks) and barrel tasting of events.

Fernweh Distilling Co.

4 Schiller Street
“Fernweh” is German for “wanderlust, the desire to explore.” Hand-crafted spirits, including Straight Rye Whiskey, Straight Bourbon, Wildflower Specialty Spirit, and Stardust Vodka, are made on-site. Amenities include a view of the distillery production facility, a guided tasting experience, a cocktail bar, a restaurant, and a second-story event venue overlooking the Missouri River.


403 South Market Street
Victorian-era speakeasy bar located at Hermann Crown Suites. Live music seven nights a week May through October and on weekends November through April. Full Service Bar with wine and bourbon tastings. Hermann 1837 Grill serves pizzas, burgers, brats, and appetizers.

Featuring the most extensive selection of bourbon whisky, scotch, and other top-shelf libations in the area. The menu here offers several tasting flights, as well as a collection of Missouri-crafted spirits.

The Tasting Room at Übernachten

The Tasting Room at Übernachten is a nano-tasting room, offering a select variety of gin and brandy tastings, flights, mixed drinks, craft sodas, espresso, small bites, and pairings. An Official Outfitter on the Missouri Spirits Expedition, The Tasting Room features Edelbrand Pure Distilling, which produces un-aged European-styled fruit brandy in Marthasville, Missouri.

Tin Mill Brewery

114 Gutenberg Street
Located in a historic grain processing plant in downtown Hermann, Tin Mill Brewing Company is focused on the art of authentic German Brewing. Brewing the majority of their beers according to the German Purity Law of 1516 and importing their barley, hops, and copper brewing kettles from the Hallertau region of Germany are all part of the story at Tin Mill. Self-guided tours are available daily. Tastings, a restaurant, a gift shop, and live music complement the brewery operations.

This nano brewery at Wings A-Blazin’ has a large 18-tap selection of microbrews. A recent post described a new brew, “Just tapped tonight. Boarding Pass. Triple dry-hopped IPA using the experimental hop HBC630. It’s available on tap at @wingsablazin. Cans coming soon.”

Wood Hat Spirits is the only wood-fired still in the country and is certified by the American Distilling Institute as a true craft distillery. Bourbon, cordials, and corn whiskey are fermented, distilled, and aged on the site. A tasting room and tours are available.
