Enjoy a Classic Weekend in Hermann: A Cruise-In, Quilt Show and Butch Wax & The Hollywoods
Summer is in full swing, but as the temperatures cool down and outdoor events pick up, it’s time to start planning your end-of-summer itinerary. Plan ahead for a classic weekend in Hermann, Friday and Saturday, September 9-10. With a car cruise, quilt show, and live music by Butch Wax & the Hollywoods, there’s something for everyone.
Hermann Quilt Show
The Hermann Quilt Show will kick off the festivities Friday at The Rotunda, located in the Upper Hermann City Park (243 W 11th). The free event will feature quilts created by local artists, along with quilt vendors, and free patterns to get you inspired to create your own fall row quilt.
The show is sponsored by the Hermann Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild, Quilting Bee Fabrics, and Silver Owl Specialty Quilts, along with other area quilting companies. The show will run both Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cruise in Car Show
Revving up before the evening entertainment on Saturday, is the inaugural River City Cruisers Cruise-In, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at East 4th and Schiller Streets. Car aficionados of all ages can enjoy viewing classic cars and trucks, hot rods, muscle cars, custom cars, rat rods and more, all while supporting a great cause.
The $10 car show admission fee will benefit annual scholarships and local charity events. While not required, ’50s and ’60s period dress is encouraged.
Butch Wax & the Hollywoods Live Music
St. Louis legends Butch Wax & the Hollywoods will take center stage Saturday, September 10, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Clara Eitmann-Messmer Amphitheater at Gutenberg and East 4th Streets.
The 8-piece band performs oldies, soul, R&B, pop, and rock and roll classics to sold out crowds in the Midwest and beyond, and have been for 35 years.
