Let freedom ring! It’s time to celebrate our country’s humble beginnings with an Independence Day celebration. Gather in Hermann for FreedomFest, a festive holiday weekend with lots of options to see and do with family and friends. Pack an overnight bag or grab just the essentials for the day, head out of the city and drive across the Missouri River Bridge into a little slice of America. Or, add to your adventure and arrive by train on Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner or bike the Katy Trail into Hermann.

Make it a four-day weekend and start by grabbing dinner, drinks, and dessert Friday while enjoying the First Friday Art Walk. Fill your evening and your belly at our tasty dining establishments. Run for the Patriots

Saturday, July 2, 2022 8:00 am – 12:00pm

Wake early and grab some friends or the kids and head over to Riverfront Park for the annual Run for the Patriots. Be sure to stretch for this 5k event! All ages are welcome to run or walk. The race begins at the Hermann Riverfront Park at 8:00 am and pre-registration is encouraged ($5). Event t-shirts are available for pre-order for $15.00.

Hermann FreedomFest Concert

Saturday, July 2, 2022 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Enjoy the rocking sounds of Clan Schaffrin and Friends Band at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater on Saturday, July 2 from 7:00 pm to 10:00pm. The Schaffrin family of musicians and friends play all your favorite classic rock tunes and some original music, too. This concert is FREE to the public, thanks to sponsorship by the Hermann Missouri Arts Council.

Adult beverages may be brought into the concert in coolers. Please support the Hermann Lions Club for water, soft drinks, and food from the concession stand during the concert. The amphitheater lawn is wide-open so blankets or chairs are suggested if you prefer to sit for this year’s live entertainment. You can sample their music on the Schaffrin’s Facebook page here.

 

FreedomFest Kids Day at the Riverfront

Sunday, July 3, 2022 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Wrangle those kids into the car for a road trip or treat them to a scenic trip on the train to Hermann for some family fun before the fireworks start! Riverfront Park will be full of family-friendly activities including bounce houses, face painting, and a kiddie tractor pull. Sign-up for the tractor pull starts at 3:30 pm, pulls begin at 4:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all age divisions. The Muskrat Society will have their keelboat on display with interpreters and information. Grab a map from the booth at Riverfront Park and take a stroll through the downtown district to hunt for rubber duckies that can be redeemed for a prize sponsored by local businesses.

Hermann FreedomFest Parade

Sunday, July 3, 2022 6:00 pm

Join in the parade, or watch from the sidewalk during this year’s FreedomFest Parade! The theme is “United We Stand – Saluting our Front-Line Healthcare Workers”. The parade route is expected to go from the corner of 8th and Washington to 6th Street, up Market to 4th Street to Schiller Street to 1st Street to Gutenberg Street and end at the Amphitheater. Stick around for the Community Band Concert that starts at 7:00 pm!

Community Band Concert

Sunday, July 3, 2022 7:00 – 8:30pm

Come enjoy the Hermann City Band which will be performing at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater on Sunday, July 3rd at 7:00 pm. The band is under the direction of Mr. Carl Bounds and will perform a variety of marches, overtures, show tunes, patriotic music, and contemporary concert band selections. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to Hermann High School Auditorium, 176 Bearcat Crossing, Hermann, Missouri.

Stay for the Show

Sunday, July 3, 2022 9:15 – 10:00pm

It’s a firework display like no other— a spectacular show over the Missouri River. The display can be seen from all over town, but certainly the Riverfront Park is a front-row seat. Enjoy patriotic music, refreshments, kettle corn, snow cones, and more from our local organizations while you wait for the show to begin at dark.

Plan to find your spot early. The Riverfront Park will be open to pedestrian traffic only after 7 pm. Parking can be found along Wharf Street, 1st Street, Gutenberg Street, and across from Hermann Farm on Hwy 100.
