Holiday House Tour & Reception

Press Release: December 1, 2020

Hermann Holiday House Tour to be held Saturday

The Holiday House Tours have been a long-standing tradition in Hermann, and this year, they will continue.  The Hermann Holiday House Tour will be held Saturday, December 5, from 2 – 7 p.m.

“This year the house tours will look a little different,” stated Tammy Bruckerhoff, Tourism and Economic Development Director with the City of Hermann.  “We have 3 guest houses on the tour, so we won’t be going in to private homes.”

The tour highlights 2 guest houses in town, both within walking distance of each other.  The third home is a farm house, a nice country drive, between Swiss and Bay.

New this year, is a collector’s booklet, with history of each property and a picture.   The Gasconade County Historical Society researched the history of two of the properties.  The collector’s booklet will serve as the ticket to enter each property.

There is an indoor display at a public building on the tour.  There are also outdoor displays listed in town, and on Highway 19, between Hermann and Swiss.

Ticket holders will want to stop and support the Double S 4-H Club Bake Sale from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Swiss Meats, just 12 miles south of Hermann.

The fourth building on the tour is a newly renovated commercial building in downtown Hermann.  The Cookies & Cider Reception will be held there from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  This building is also within walking distance of the two in-town homes on the tour.

Tickets may be purchased at the Amtrak Station, 300 Wharf Street, on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  The properties will be listed in the collector’s booklet, and will not be announced publicly before then.  Tickets are $10 each (18 and older) and $5 (17 and under).  Cash or check only are accepted.

Additionally, Bruckerhoff offered that ticket holders will all be given a complimentary face covering and a hand sanitizer, with social distancing practiced at the properties.
